How to use BioAlign Care
A complete, step-by-step guide. Tap a topic to jump to it.
Welcome
BioAlign Care watches over your loved one at home. It looks out for falls day and night, keeps track of how they walk, sleep, and feel, reminds them about medicines and appointments, offers live yoga and exercises made just for them, and tells you right away if something needs your attention.
This guide explains, step by step, how to do everything. Tap any topic in the list below to jump straight to it. You can come back to this page anytime from Settings, then Documentation.
Signing in
There are a few ways to sign in. Use whichever is easiest for you.
- On the home tablet:
- Wake the tablet by tapping the screen.
- Tap your name.
- Type your 4 to 8 digit PIN.
- You will see the main menu.
- On the Senior App (the simple daily app):
- Open the app.
- Either type the pairing code a family member sent you, or type your email and password.
- You are now signed in.
- On a computer or phone web browser (Family Dashboard):
- Go to your BioAlign web address.
- Type your email and password.
- Tap Sign in.
Finding your way around
After you sign in on the tablet, you see a menu with large buttons. Tap the one you want.
- Family Dashboard: see how everyone is doing and manage the system.
- My Dashboard: the health app for the person being cared for.
- Senior App: the simple daily app with medicines, appointments, and the I'm OK and Help buttons.
- To move around:
- Tap Menu at any time to return to the main menu.
- Tap Switch user to let a different person sign in with their own PIN.
- The tablet locks itself when no one uses it for a while — just enter your PIN again.
How to do a Balance Assessment
A balance assessment is a short, safe test that checks steadiness and fall risk. The tablet's camera watches a few simple movements. Have another person stand close by to steady the person taking the test.
- Sign in and open My Dashboard (or, from the Family Dashboard, open Gait & Balance and choose the person).
- Tap the Balance Assessment button.
- Read the on-screen instructions. They pop up automatically; you can reopen them anytime.
- Check the box that confirms someone is nearby to help steady the person. You cannot start until this is checked.
- Tap Start Balance Assessment. Allow the camera when asked.
- For each of the four short tests, do this:
- Read the instructions on the screen.
- Stand so the whole body is inside the camera view.
- Tap Start recording — a 3, 2, 1 countdown begins.
- Do the movement the screen asks for (for example, stand up from a chair, or stand still with feet together).
- Tap Stop recording when finished.
- After each test the system scores it and shows the result. Tap to go to the next test.
- When all four are done, you see the overall result and any flags. This is saved so you can watch it over time.
How to do a Movement (Mobility) Assessment
The Movement Assessment (also called the FMS, or Functional Movement Screen) checks how well the body moves through seven basic movements, using the camera. It gives a score out of 21 so you can see improvement over time.
- Sign in and open My Dashboard (or, from the Family Dashboard, open Mobility and choose the person).
- Tap Mobility Assessment (or Run Mobility Assessment).
- A full set of instructions appears — read them. You can reopen them anytime.
- Tap Start Assessment. The movement test opens; allow the camera when asked.
- The screen guides you through seven movements one at a time, for example:
- A deep squat
- Stepping over a line
- A lunge
- Shoulder reaches
- Raising a straight leg
- A push-up
- A balance/rotation move
- Do each movement slowly and safely as shown, staying fully in the camera view.
- When finished, the system adds up your score (out of 21) and saves it. A score of 17 or higher is healthy; below 14 means it's worth focusing on movement and balance.
How to enter Pain information
Keeping track of pain helps spot patterns and makes the exercise programs gentler and more useful. Anyone can fill this in — the person themselves, or a family member on their behalf.
- Sign in and open My Dashboard (or, from the Family Dashboard, open Pain Management and choose the person).
- Tap Pain Assessment (or Run Pain Assessment).
- Fill in the simple form, card by card:
- If there is no pain right now, check the No Current Pain box and skip ahead.
- Tap the body areas that hurt (you can pick more than one).
- Choose the type of pain (for example sharp, dull, burning).
- Tap the pain level from mild to severe.
- Choose how long it has lasted.
- On the next card, add more detail if you like:
- What makes it worse (for example walking, sitting).
- What makes it better (for example rest, heat).
- What time of day it usually happens.
- On the last cards you can add notes, any equipment used (like a cane or walker), and whether floor or standing exercises are possible.
- Tap Save Information. Your entry is saved and the trend is tracked over time.
How to get your AI Health Analysis & Exercise Program
BioAlign Care studies the information it collects and explains it in plain words. It can also build a personalized exercise program aimed at improving strength, balance, and quality of life.
- To read AI Health Insights (family view):
- Open the Family Dashboard.
- Tap Health Insights.
- For each person you'll see short, plain-language notes such as “Balance improving steadily” or “Sleep slipping this week,” along with charts of their trends.
- Tap a note to see more detail.
- To create a personalized exercise program:
- Sign in and open My Dashboard.
- Tap Generate Report.
- The system reviews the person's balance, movement, walking, and pain results and builds a program suited to their needs. This takes a moment.
- Review the program — it lists the exercises, how many to do, and helpful tips.
- To do the exercises with guidance:
- From My Dashboard, tap Guided Session.
- Follow the voice and on-screen coaching. The session is designed to be safe and doable at home.
- To save or print a report:
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Reports.
- Choose the person and generate a PDF report you can save, print, or bring to the doctor.
How to check Walking, Balance & Fall Risk
The system measures walking quality around the clock and rates fall risk. You don't have to do anything to start it — just check the pages below to see how things are going.
- To see fall risk:
- Open the Family Dashboard.
- Tap Safety.
- You'll see the current fall risk (Low, Moderate, or Elevated) with a plain explanation, and a chart of walking speed over time. A slow-down in walking is an early warning.
- To see walking and balance details:
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Gait & Balance.
- Each person shows their walking speed and a trend. Tap Gait Analysis for the full picture, or Balance Test to run a balance check now.
How to check Nighttime Wellness (sleep, heart rate, breathing)
A small radar sensor over the bed measures sleep and vital signs at night — with no camera and nothing to wear.
- Open the Family Dashboard.
- Tap Activity.
- You'll see last night's sleep hours, sleep quality, resting heart rate, and breathing rate, plus a trend over the last several nights.
- Watch for patterns worth mentioning to a doctor, such as several nights of poor sleep or higher breathing.
How to set up Medications & reminders
You add medicines from the Family Dashboard. The Senior App then reminds the person at the right times, and alerts you if a dose is missed.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Members (or Family Members).
- Tap the person's name to open their card.
- Tap the Medications tab, then Add medication.
- Fill in the details:
- Name of the medicine (for example Lisinopril).
- Dose, if you want (for example 10 mg).
- Instructions, if any (for example Take with food).
- Reminder times — add one or more times of day.
- Make sure it is turned on so reminders are sent.
- Tap Add medication. It now appears in the list and reminders will start.
How to set up Appointments
Appointments work like medicines — you add them, the person is reminded, and you're alerted if one is missed.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Members.
- Tap the person's name, then the Appointments tab.
- Tap Add appointment.
- Fill in the details:
- Title (for example Cardiology follow-up).
- Date and time.
- Provider and location, if you want.
- Any notes.
- How far ahead to remind (for example 30 minutes before, or 1 day before).
- Tap Add appointment. It appears in the list and both the person and you will be reminded.
Using the Senior App every day
The Senior App is the simple daily screen for the person being cared for. Everything is large and easy to tap.
- Open the Senior App and sign in (PIN on the tablet, or the pairing code / email and password).
- At the top, Next up shows the most important thing to do right now — a medicine or an appointment.
- When it's time for a medicine, tap I took it to mark it done. Your family sees it was taken.
- For an appointment, tap I went when you've been.
- Tap the green I'm OK button anytime to send a friendly check-in to your family.
- Tap the red Help button if you need someone right away — it alerts every family member's phone at once.
How to join a Live Yoga Class
If your plan includes Yoga at Home, your household can join live, instructor-led classes for seniors — gentle chair yoga, balance and mobility, and strengthening — plus watch recorded classes anytime.
- To turn on Yoga at Home (family):
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Yoga at Home.
- Tap Add yoga to my plan and confirm. Your household membership is set up automatically.
- To join a class (the person):
- Open the Senior App.
- Find the Your yoga classes section.
- Tap Go to class. You are signed in automatically — no extra password.
- Join the live class, or pick one from the library.
How to get Alerts on your phone
Because family usually lives elsewhere, alerts come to your phone. Set this up once and you'll be notified of falls, a tapped Help, and missed medicines or appointments.
- On your phone, open the Family app in your web browser.
- Sign in with your email and password.
- When it asks, choose Turn on alerts and Allow notifications.
- That's it — alerts now come straight to your phone, even when the app is closed.
- Tap any alert to see the details: what happened, when, and which room.
How to add family members & the person you care for
The person who owns the box adds everyone in the household from the Family Dashboard.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Members.
- Tap Add member.
- Enter their name and details, and choose whether they are the person being cared for or a family member who helps.
- Save. You can then set their tablet PIN (Settings, then Tablet PINs) and, for the person being cared for, add their medicines and appointments.
How to set up your Rooms
Telling the system which rooms are in your home lets it place each camera and sensor correctly, and lets alerts say where something happened.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Settings, then Rooms.
- Type a room name (for example Kitchen, Bedroom, Hallway).
- Choose Bedroom for the room where the person sleeps, or Common area for the rest.
- Tap Add room. Repeat for every room that has a camera or sensor.
How to place & calibrate your Cameras
Calibrating a camera teaches it the real size of the room, which makes fall and walking detection accurate. You'll use the included ChArUco mat — the printed checkerboard.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Settings, then Camera Calibration.
- For each camera, use the drop-down to choose the room it is in. Check that it says Online.
- Lay the ChArUco mat flat on the floor where that camera can see all of it.
- Tap Calibrate and follow the on-screen steps.
- Move the mat to the next room and repeat, one camera at a time.
How to set Tablet PINs
Each person unlocks the home tablet with a short PIN.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Settings, then Tablet PINs.
- Enter a 4 to 8 digit PIN for yourself, and one for each household member.
- Give everyone a different PIN, and choose ones that are easy to remember but not obvious.
How to restart or power the box
If something isn't working, you can restart from Settings.
- Open the Family Dashboard, tap Settings, then System.
- Choose Restart app for a small glitch, Reboot if the box itself is acting up, or Power off to turn it off completely.
- A reboot takes a few minutes and the box comes back on by itself. Monitoring pauses while it's off — you'll be told when it goes down and comes back.
Getting help
Most screens guide you as you go. If a camera or sensor won't connect, make sure it has power and is within range, then try again from its tab.
